I officially have early morning, mid-morning, late morning, noon, early afternoon, mid-afternoon, late afternoon, early evening and late evening sickness! Mid-evening I actually feel pretty good!
I am not having any food aversions which is very nice. Nothing seems to "set me off" for I am just sick all the time. I am also not really experiencing any cravings at all. I still like mustard which I never have before but I don't think about it all the time or anything.
Doug keeps saying "Dougisms"
- Doug, I only had acid reflux that one day and I have not had it since"
- It ain't over to 'til the fat lady sings.... errrr not that your fat... uhhhh or will get fat but ummm....
* First... you don't tell the pregnant lady that she will probably get sick later and.... THE FAT LADY?!
Haha, I would not be so worried about it except that I have already gained 7 pounds. I am working out though and I have been eating healthy. Cross your fingers that I don't become the fat lady!!!

Mini Hammer?
The last few days Doug and I have been working on the cottage so that it will be done by the time that baby arrives! We are so excited about moving in to our own place!

First Prenatal
Doug and I went to our first prenatal appointment yesterday. Nothing very exciting or anything... we filled out a lot of paperwork, tried to convince them that we are emotionally stable and well supported by friends and family, and I had a LOT of blood drawn. I think they took nine vials. I told the nurse that at least I was losing five pounds during my visit! Oh... and I got to pee in a cup which, apparently, I get to do every time I go!

Eight Weeks
Because we were on our cruise during week 8 we were not able to take a picture in front of the cottage! Instead we figured that we would take one in front of the Mayan ruins. This structure is part of Chichen Itza!!!

Cruisin Baby
We went on our second anniversary cruise this week. We had such a blast! Baby did really well and only gave me a minimal amount of discomfort. I was worried about being baby nauseous on a swaying boat but everything was great! We took our eight week picture on the trip but I don't have it today so I will post it as soon as I get it!

Food for Thought
I always laughed about the whole pregnancy cravings thing and chalked it up to women getting to eat whatever they want just because they are pregnant. I will have to retract my previous assumptions.
I want mustard!
Now, if you know me, you know that I do not put condiments on anything... I dont even use salad dressing. Three days ago I could not get mustard out of my mind. So golden and delectable...
I had mustard last night on half a burger and that will also be my lunch today. Yummm!!!!

Expanding Waste
I measured my lower waste before I got pregnant and I was 28 inches. Today I measured the same area and I am at 32 1/2 inches!

Swine Flu Escape
Doug and I have officially moved out for the week. The kids were exposed to the swine flu and if they get sick they will give it to me. One in nine pregnant women die from the swine flu so the whole family decided not to take the chance on my getting it.
The other concern is that we are going on a cruise this weekend and if either of us got sick then we would not be able to go. I am not a big fan of feeling unsettled but desperate times...

Tired
I am very tired of late! Baby seems to be taking a toll on my body. Yesterday, while I was at work, I was reading Emma at the desk. There was only one client in the building and everything was very peaceful and quite as all of the girls were in the back or outside.
All was going well until I WOKE UP! Yes... I am talking chin to the chest, just started dreaming, any longer and I would have drooled type of asleep. Noelle says I will be very tired for the first 14 weeks. That means you will be hearing about how tired I am for the next 7 weeks!!! Haha... I am sure some days will be much better than others although today is not one of them!

Trying to Get in Shape
So I have been working out the last few weeks so that I won't be a fat pregnant lady! The only problem is that the only time I have to workout is right in the middle of baby pukey time. My "evening" sickness has not been that bad except when I do anything strenuous which is very unfortunate to my cause. As the waves of nausea wash over me hopefully the waves of good pregnant body do as well!

Whats Going On With Baby
The big news this week: Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you're daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, Baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of Baby's tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry. If you could see inside your womb, you'd spot eyelid folds partially covering her peepers, which already have some color, as well as the tip of Baby's nose and tiny veins beneath parchment-thin skin. Both hemispheres of Baby's brain are growing, and Baby's liver is churning out red blood cells until bone marrow forms and takes over this role. He or she also has an appendix and a pancreas, which will eventually produce the hormone insulin to aid in digestion. A loop in Baby's growing intestines is bulging into the umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from Baby's tiny body.

"He Stabbed me in the Back" has a Whole New Meaning
Oh-my-word!!! Give me a natural childbirth any day. Pay attention to how matter of fact the man is about.... NOT HAVING ANY FEELING IN YOUR LOWER BODY!

Home vs. Hospital
This is a website with some good basic information on the normal myths of homebirth.
It does not cover the biggest misconception that most people believe.... a homely old lady shows up in a gingham dress with a napsack of old rags and asks for some hot water!

Bulging Intestines
Okay so I was wearing a bathing suit and a tank top the other day when Noelle starting commenting on my stomach... it is poking out! Mind you, I am only 6 weeks pregnant so technically I should not be showing for quite a bit longer but my uterus is almost twice it's normal size already.
I am not sure why all the websites say that there will be no outward sign of pregnancy when your organs are getting larger! Technically what I can see is really my uterus pushing my intestines forward which causes my lower stomach to stick out a little like I am bloated.
I am a little disappointed because my first picture will not be completely normal but I guess it will be as close as possible...I need to take that soon!!!

"Night" Sickness
Last night I could barely go to bed because my head hurt and I felt nauseous. I have started feeling bad around 5:30 in the evenings. It really has not been that bad... just a little ill except for last night at around 10:30.
Weird things are going on in my body people!!!

Informative Information
Q: Should I have a baby after 35?
A: No, 35 children is enough.
Q: I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?
A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.
Q: What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex?
A: Childbirth.
Q: My childbirth instructor says it's not pain I'll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right?
A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.
Q: Is there any reason I have to be in the room while my wife is in labor?
A: Not unless the word "alimony" means anything to you.
Q: Do I have to have a baby shower?
A: Not if you change the baby's diaper very quickly.
Q: Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again?
A: When the kids are in college.
A man and his wife were making their first doctor visit prior to the birth of their first child. After everything checked out, the doctor took a small stamp and stamped the wife's stomach with indelible ink. The couple was curious about what the stamp was for, so when they got home, the husband dug out his magnifying glass to try to see what it was. In very tiny letters, the stamp said, "When you can read this, come back and see me."

Still a Bit Weary
So maybe I was wrong about the lack of sleep thing because I am still very tired. I am going to bed early and still feeling tired. I will get the results of the progesterone test today! Pray that all goes well.

A Wee Bit Weary
Yesterday I was exhausted! Noelle says that it is the pregnancy and I will be tired for the first 12 weeks but I am not convinced that it wasn't just too little sleep of late. I will definitely be making that a priority now. I think I am off to a good start seeing as how I went to bed at 9:10.
I am going to my first midwife appointment today to get my progesterone levels checked to make sure that everything is okay! They can't fit me in for an actual visit (pregnancy test and paperwork) but it is very important to find out if I need to be on progesterone due to last year. Chances are I will need to do so.
